President Barack Obama and President Hu Jintao spoke to business leaders and met together to discuss commercial and other issues during the 2011 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November in Hawaii. During the summit Obama sought a level playing field for US businesses and expressed US concerns on intellectual property rights protection, government procurement, currency, and other areas. President Hu's primary statement at the summit was that global decision making should reflect the increasing role of emerging markets such as the BRIC countries.
